1.     When I donate my handcrafted items to the Nettie & Friends sale, how much tax deduction may I take?
-You may take the value of the materials you used as a tax deduction.

2.     When I purchase an item at the sale, how much of my purchase is tax deductible?
-Items are priced at “Fair Market Value” so you cannot take a tax deduction for your purchases.  However your money still serves a wonderful purpose. 

-Nettie & Friends is registered as a 501(c)3 public charity.  If you give Nettie & Friends money over the cost of your purchases, that amount is fully tax deductible.

3.     When is the deadline for donating items?
-October 27, 2012 or before.  If you are still working on items, even those in the “near completion” stage, put them aside and finish them for next year’s sale.                   
-If you are not attending the breakfast this year, contact Nettie at to make arrangements for pick up or drop off of your items.
4.     When does the sale open?
-Monday, November 26, 2012 and running through December 2012.
-Opening Reception - Saturday, December 1,  2012 from 4 - 7 PM

5.     Can I use my credit card to purchase items or make a donation?
-Yes!  We are pleased to take credit or debit cards using 'Square' credit/debit card processing technology.  
-You can even give Nettie a tax deductible donation using your credit card - either in person or via the site.  Just put "Nettie & Friends" in the search bar and voila' you've found us!

6.     Do you charge sales tax?
-We do pay sales tax on taxable items, but we’ve calculated that into the price of the items.

7.     What is the money used for?
Nettie & Friends does many things with the money raised.  
-We give Maxfield School in St. Paul, MN money so students can always have a hot lunch and so their parents can join them for lunch when they visit the school. 
-We make sure there are clean uniforms, in good repair, should a student need one on any day. 
-We take students from the Maxfield Learning Center on field trips so they can see an apple orchard, a fire station, a rooftop garden, and a horse show. 
-We buy supplies so students at the Learning Center can carve a pumpkin, make a gingerbread house, and publish the work they’ve written. 
-We provide emergency transportation and groceries to families who periodically need a little extra assistance. 
-We provide materials and resources for staff and students to enhance learning opportunities.

8.     What can I do to help? 
            -Continue to spread the word about the work Nettie & Friends does for public education. 
             -Continue to be creative and make wonderful items for the Nettie & Friends holiday sale. 
             -Bring your friends to the Egg & I East for breakfast or lunch during the December sale. 
              -Volunteer to come on a field trip with Maxfield students as a chaperone. 
              -Help us find a web designer who will donate some time and expertise.  (We’ll advertise their generosity far and wide.) 
              -Make a tax-deductible donation to Nettie & Friends via the site. 
               -Introduce us to businesses that will help us just as the fine folk at these companies already do.
