So, Marsha and I took a road trip to Kansas City over my spring break. Stopped in Winterset, Iowa to tour the birthplace of John Wayne, some of the Bridges of Madison County and Fons and Porter Quilt Shop. Bought some cowboy fabric... surprise!
On down the road to Lawson, Missouri to visit the Watkins Woolen Mill Historic Site. We talked our way into the archives to view some clothing, quilts and blankets from the Watkins family (c. 1870's!)
Made our way to Kansas City, MO. Visited many sites and our favorite is the Steamboat Arabia. Incredible story! Worth the trip!
Stopped at Country Threads in Garner, Iowa on our way home. Now, here's a quilt shop you won't see every day! You must like animals if you stop here. We were greeted by a friendly Golden Doodle and a few cats.
I worked on stash enhancement, wool acquisition, building this blog and general fun. Great road trip. Fun city.
